• Elizabeth united with the M.E. church at Highland Center in 1891 and remained a faithful and consistent member until her death in 1909. (per obituary)

Text Box: Death of Mrs. A.C. Butler: Hedrick Journal 19 May 1909 pg 6 Mrs. A.C. Butler, an early settler of Highland township, died at her home in Newkirk, Oklahoma Friday, aged 74 years 11 months and 21 days. The funeral was held at the residence of her daughter Mrs. R.W. Doak in Highland Township Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock…….. Elizabeth C. Emery was born in Ashland, Ohio May 21, 1834. She was married August 25, 1852 to A.C. Butler at Canton, Illinois and to them were born seven children of whom three daughters and one son, besides her husband precedes her in death…… Mrs. Butler was an estimable lady, a good neighbor and a kind and loving wife and mother, and her death is greatly lamented by her many old friends in this vicinity.
