 FRANCES (DOAK) LINT          1921

 

  Frances Elizabeth Doak was born in January 1921 to Frank and Hillian Doak.  She was united in marriage to Charles “Pete” Lint  in 1945.  To this union was born 1 daughter.  Frances has lived in Iowa, near her childhood home, all her life.

 VIRGINIA (DOAK) RAMEY    1919

Occupation =  grocery store owner

 In Pekin, Iowa

  Virginia Ellen Doak was born to Frank and Hillian Doak in 1919.  She became Mrs. Bob Ramey in December of 1937.  To this union was born 2 children. 

The Ramey’s owned and operated the Pekin Grocery Store in  Pekin, Iowa for several years.  Virginia and Bob moved to Illinois but then returned to Iowa to live their retirement near her brother and sisters. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends.

  Geneva Pauline Doak was born July 13, 1913 the third child of Frank and Hillian Doak.  A graduate of Hedrick High School in 1932, she worked in the dental office of Dr. J.P. Foote in Hedrick and for Hedrick Consolidated School prior to her marriage. 

  On February 18, 1948 she married Victor D. Daughtery.  To this union was born a set of twin boys.  The young family often went camping and visited many other relatives thru out the United States.

  In 1979, she tragically lost her son Donald to a motorcycle accident.

   Geneva and her husband Vic had farmed and lived most of their married life on what is considered the Doak homestead farm northwest of Highland Center, Iowa. It was the land owned by Reasoner Doak.  Although the house is not original, some of the out buildings remain from the original homestead.

   In 1994, she became a grandmother.

  Geneva passed away September 2, 2009 at the age of 96, and was laid to rest near her forefathers in the McCormick Cemetery.

 IRENE (DOAK) BOWLIN, GULLETT         1911-1990

  Irene was born Lucille Irene Doak on May 24, 1911 to Frank and Hillian Doak.  She was a 1927 Hedrick High School graduate and had worked as a correspondent for the Ottumwa Courier and Oskaloosa Herald for many years.    

  She married Evan J. Bowlin on June 29, 1933.  To this union was born 4 children.  She was a member of the Hedrick United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a loving grandmother of eight, and great grandmother of nine.

  Unfortunately in December 1972 after a long illness, her husband ,of 39 years, Evan Bowlin passed away .  A few years later on Dec 9, 1976 she married Walden Gullett and continued to live in Hedrick.  However, in 1983 Walden also passed away and in 1985 she moved to Cedar Falls to be near her son.

   Irene passed away July 15, 1990 at the age of 79 ,and found her resting place beside her first husband Evan Bowlin in the McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center, Iowa.
